Identification is a capability of the human psyche to represent one’s belonging to different national, professional, cultural, gender, and other groups. Illustrator Anastasiya Opryshchenko has been thinking about the process of national self-identification for several years. This issue began to bother her after the start of a full-scale invasion. What makes her Ukrainian? Language? Culture? Or maybe something else? In her comic strip, the journalist of Zaborona explores what national self-identification is, how it arises, and why it should not be abused.
